The child inside loves to color

Good evening my friends.  How did your weekend turn out?  I had a great one.  Got to spend time with my kids and grand kids.  And was lucky to squeeze in some craft time while I was babysitting my grand daughter Isabella.  We both colored!  I let her use my Crayola colored pencils while I colored with my Spectrum Noir markers.
I created 2 cards.  I used stamp sets I got from Crafters Companions web site.
I also used stamps from Close to my Heart as well as the inks,  and card stock..Thistle, Flaxen and Saddle were the colors used in card one.

In card 2 I used scraps from my big scrap box, twine, purple bling from Hobby Lobby, as well as stamps and inks from Close to My Heart.

Thanks for looking!!  have a good night :)

Double Bow tutorial

Good Morning To all you crafty people out there in Blog land.  This morning I am here to do a photo tutorial on the double bow ribbons I make.  I have had a lot of people asking how to do it and so I decided to do a blog post.  On line there are a lot of people that use  tools to make their ribbons, and since I do not have one, I make due with my fingers.
there are some ribbons that make it easier to make the double bows, than others.  If your ribbon looks the same on both sides, same texture and pattern, than you are all set.  Otherwise you have to do a little twisting...that is another post for another day. first let us just the art of double bow mastered first.
First..choose your ribbon,  the one I am using today is 5/8".

grab one end and leave 3 inches or so for one of the tails ( longer if you want langer tails).  grab between your thumb and forefinger. If you are right handed..grab with your left.

with the rest of the ribbon, wrap around the back of your fingers and come down between your middle finger and your ring finger.

then continue on around the back of the index finger and come around so you end up going up over the top of the middle finger

At this point I cut the ribbon from the spool, leaving about 5 to 6 inches

Now I take the piece that I just cut...and feed it down between the middle finger and fore finger ( FIGURE 8)

grab it with my other hand and bring it up around to where it just went  down,  by my thumb

Now,take this tail...and push it under neath the piece of ribbon that is going across your thumb, pull your thumb out and pull the tail tight

It should then look like this

the last step is to remove from your fingers and cut the tails

then  embellish your project!!!  It may seem like a lot of steps and real difficult, but it truly is not.  Practice, practice.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Speaking of ribbons.. I wanted to also share a thank you gift bag I made for a customer.  I used the double Bow technique and I tried the Braided ribbon as well.  Not bad for the first time :)
Back at it!!
Good evening friends, thought I would stop by this evening and share a few cards I made today.  I have been unable to do much paper crafting latley, my husband has been hospitalized for a couple weeks and going theough a real rough time,but finally doing a LITTLE better, has a little ways to go.
I Played with a few different files.  I had several special order cards to make  and tried to get as many done today as I could, I never know when the next chance is going to be.
the first card I made I used a file from KaDoodle Bug Designs. called  Cutie KaToodles Donkey.  He is sooo cute, don't you think??
the second and third cards I made..
were made for a niece to give to her doctors and nurses that were present during the delivery of the twin boy and girl she had.
and lastly I made a graduation card for my sister in law, she wanted one like she saw on Pinterest.
Well, that is all I have to share with you this evening.
different Center step card tutorial
Hello to you all,  Tonight I wanted to share with you another way I found to make a center step card, that folds a little different.  I found it quite by accident on the internet and wrote down the instructions, and glad I did, cause I could not find it again later.   Soooo, lets get started.
This is is what the new style center step card looks like.. (How do you like the KaDoodle Bug file??)
the center of the card is recessed instead of the end pieces.
below is a regular center step card with the sides recessed..
 Now, here are the details..
step one..6 x 12'' card stock base
on each side of the card..go in and up one inc and cut up to the 7 inch line as shown
score lines are dotted and cut lines are solid.
Diagram is suppoesed to be 6 by 12, (not really life like, sorry)
below I am folding at the scorelines
this is what it should look like when finished
I hope this tutorial helped, now try one yourself:)
