Theme Day Thursday at My Cricut Craft Room

It is Theme day Thursday at My Cricut craft Room and my design team project for today's theme.."Sleepover"  is a scrapbook layout.  I do not typically do many layouts, I usually make cards, but I have to tell you I am having a  lot of fun making these pages.  The cartridges I chose to make today's layout is Happily Ever After and Art Philosophy.  There are a lot of cute cuts on  Happily Ever After cartridge...Mulan, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, ( my all time favorite cartoon)  and Snow White.  Sooooo, who do you think of when you think of Snow white???  The seven dwarfs, and of course Sleepy:)

I found a page from a stack of Momenta's Celebrations and Occasions.  The page had blues and greens and purples, as well as the verses of Twinkle   Twinkle, little star. I cut the picture mats at 5", 4 3/4" and 4 1/2 " in Colonial white Purple and Indian Corn Blue.  The shape is from the Art Philosophy cartridge on page 37.  I also cut the 3D roses from this cartridge, at 2 1/2 inches in yellow and purple, as well as the stars@ 1 and 3/4 and 1 and 1/2 inches and the letters..for sleep over at 1 1/4.

The white flower with the purple layer and the rose in the center, I do not know which cartridge it is from, sorry to say.  I had cut a bunch of them out a while ago to have some ahead, and I looked through the cartridges today and can not find where I got it:((

Next i started the fun little guy, Sleepy on page 65.  There were quite a few little pieces to him, but I cut him at 4 1/4 inches and the pieces were not  too bad at all to handle:)   After I put him all together with my Zig pen, I added a little pink chalk to his cheeks to make them rosey.  Then I cut the lantern  out from page  64 at 5 " and layered with 2 shades of yellow Bazzill card stock.

Down each side of the layout I made a strip, one at 2 1/4 inches and the other at 1 inch  of another paper from the stack with stripes and used the ATG to put the stars on them.  to finish it off I put a couple of buttons on the bottom left, and Voila!!

I hope you like my post today, I know I had fun making it:))  Now you will want to head over to Erica's blog at My Cricut Craft Room at this link  http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com/  to see more projects from the Design Team like this:)  Have a great Crafty day.
P.S.   Today is my 32nd wedding anniversary!!!!!!!!!  woohoo

Scrapbook Friday at My Cricut Craft Room

Good  morning to all you craft loving people it is finally Friday, and not just any Friday it is Scrapbook Friday  at My Cricut Craft Room!!!  This is my Design Team project for today.  Today I am making a Layout that is all about  "swimming".  When I decided I was going to do this layout the first cartridge that came to mind that I have is the 3 Birds On Parade....It has a cute little birdy with an inner tube.
I started out by cutting 2 mats 4x5, using Bazzill card stock, and then I cut a strip of polka dot paper from DCWV Floral stack.  I cut it at approximately 2" and then used Martha Stewart doily border punch down one side.  Using Atg gun, taped both to the 12x12 paper which I found in my papers,  from DCWV All About Boys stack, and it had Octopus all over it.  I had some bright orange ribbon with yellow stitching, that I tied down the side of each picture mat.
I then cut a sand castle from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge at 3 inches, then I inked it with Walnut stain from Tim Holtz and added white Stickles to give a little more of a sand look.  I also cut some sea shells from this cartridge too.   I could not find a beach pail in my cartridges, so I made on and used a black gel pen to faux stitch it.

I then cut my birds and their inner tube at 4".  For the eyes I cut little white circles with a punch, and then cut black ones with a paper punch.   For the eyelids, I cut a green circle in half, one half for each side. To finish, I put a white gel dot on each eye.

I did the second little guy the same way except instead of playing in the sand...he is playing with a happy beach ball. (he has googley eyes)   After they were finished I made a banner for the top of the page and added the letters " s w i m ".  The banner was cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge.  And then I cut out the Letters "make a splash"  which is from the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge too. I added some faux stitching in black to help it stand out.  Below it is the starfish that I added some stickles to also.  To finish I added  3 buttons on the top. Voila!!  I hope you like my project today:)

Birthday card

Good morning friends.  What a nice day it is gong to be!  No humidity, sun shining, birds singing, it is wonderful!  Yesterday was hot and HUMID, great day to stay in and make a card, so that is what I did.   It was a quick simple card, made with DCWV Sweet stack.   I had a hankering for a card made with pinks and browns and so this is the color theme of the day.  I love the Sweet Stack.

I love the pink and brown together:)

I used Core'dinations card stock for the base and then cut the mat with Colonial white. I also used Martha Stewart's doily border punch to make a border at the bottom.  To embellish it I had some BO Bunny gems, and the sentiment was from a small sentiment stamp set I got at Michaels.  The circle and scalloped circle were cut with the Cricut using Art Philosophy Cartridge and the ribbon was leftover from my stash of ribbons. The card is all held together with my ATG gun and some pop dots between the layers of the circles, and Fabritac for ribbon.

Hope you liked the card, come on back tomorrow for some more creativity,

Card Creating Tuesday at MCCR

Card Creating Tuesday at My Cricut Craftroom

Today is Card creating Tuesday at My Cricut Craft Room and todays' sketch card to follow is below. I chose to do this sketch as a reminder of my dad, who I lost 30 years ago and he was the best dad.!

He was not a cowboy, but he played in a local band, and the music was Country and western, and so i decided to just change the cards a little and instead of using a dress shirt, I used the cuts from the Paper Doll Dress  Up cartridge.

I decided to make my card a 6x6 because I just got some envelopes for that size.
I used some paper that I got from a kit to make Army Scrap book pages, one of them had like a worn blue jean look to it, it was perfect, I just sanded the edges and the pockets.
I cut all the pieces to fit a 5 inch paperdoll.  I made him a hat and a lasso of course:) I faux stitched the neckerchief and hat.  I used Close To My Heart white card stock, DCWV card stock from the All About Boys stack, and some cocoa and yellow [a[er from my scraps.  I   used my atg gun to adhere the papers as well as the Zig pen.  For the shirt buttons and the embellishing I used BO Bunny gems.

For the "Best Dad"  I used the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake cartridge. I cut the words and the shadow at 1.25 inches.  It seemed to be lacking something so I hi lighted with a little Stickles.  Voila///add a few pop dots and also some Tim Holtz walnut distress ink, and done.

Now you have two more stops. Head over to Erica's store here. She has great deals and keeps adding products. You will find something you have to have at a great price. When you are done shopping there, head over to her blog here to check out what the rest of the design
team made to share.
Have a great day and happy crafting:)   Cathy

Awesome announcement!!

Happy Sunday Everyone!!   If you have come from Erica's Craft Room and her July's 100 Cartridge Weekend Hop, which by the way is celebrating, its one year blog-iversary of the first  100 cartridge blog hop, then you already know the Awesome news:)))) She announced her new members to her Design team, and I am one of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am just a little bit excited!!!! (doing the Happy Dance).  I am looking  forward to a great, educational, fun experience with what I believe is a great bunch of gals.  Made me feel right at home.

I did not create a project for the hop this weekend, but I did decide to show you the Easel card I submitted in my application for the DT.  I made the easel card, as shown below.   I though I would make one with soft summer colors.

I made the card a 6x6 , with papers from Bazzill and Doodlebug Designs' Snips and Snails paper pad.

I also used the gems from Bo Bunny, The Cricut cartridge, Stretch Your Imagination, for the "Bugs" and the sunflower.  To give a little depth I put some pop dots for the sunflower centers.  For the leaves, I cut them from Art Philosophy cartridge and inked them with Tim Holzt distress, Barn Door ink, and ran them across a small paint brush to give them some curl.   The Yellow ribbon, I got a long time ago, I believe from out local department store.

For the base of the easel I added some small buttons to help hold the main part of the card up.  Then using a stamp..You're so sweet, and CTMH ink Cocoa,  a sentiment was added. I also added pop dots to raise the yellow cardstock up, which also aided in keeping the card upright.

Other tools used I creating the card were, ATG gun, Zig Pen, small googly eyes, tacky glue and Fiscars trimmer.

Well I hope you enjoyed my project today, I look forward to many more fun postings with Ericas Design team.  Make sure to visit all the stops on July's Hop at Erica's Craft room, and leave them some love . We all like a kind word now and again:))) Have a great weekend.  If you have not been to the hop yet the go to Ericas to start at the beginning here> http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com/

Please stop by again, happy crafting~~ Cathy
